Banking Email List: How to Reach Bank and Credit Union Decision-Makers With Verified Data

Publish date: Oct 30, 2026
A banking email list holds verified work emails for named executives at banks and credit unions. Think CFO, CIO, CISO, Chief Risk Officer and head of compliance. The FDIC insures 4,217 active institutions, and the top-ranking vendor page sells 1,087,982 "verified U.S. banking contacts". Both numbers can be right at once, because one counts institutions and the other counts people, tellers included.
This guide sets five vendor totals beside the official registers. Then it adds what no ranking page shows: Spona's own counts of US and UK institutions with five executive roles at each, and what 4,000 verification checks on banking addresses returned.

Banking email list sizes: vendor claims against official counts
Five vendor pages rank for this search or a close variant, and each leads with a contact total. The regulators publish institution totals. The table shows both, with each vendor figure as that vendor states it.
| Who counts | What it counts | Figure |
| UpLead | "verified U.S. banking contacts", "everyone from tellers to top-tier banking executives" | 1,087,982 US; 2,430,630 worldwide |
| InfoGlobalData | "Verified Banking Email Contacts" | 652,169 |
| DataCaptive | banking contacts | 534K+ global; 409K+ USA |
| BookYourData | a finance and banking pool, with SIC codes that split banks (6022) from brokers (6211) | 4,412,507 |
| ReachStream | "Global Contacts" in banking and finance, no split between the two | 9M+ global; 5,354,484 USA; 274,238 UK |
| FDIC BankFind | active FDIC-insured institutions | 4,217 |
| NCUA | federally insured credit unions | 4,214 |
| PRA lists | UK-incorporated banks authorised to accept deposits; overseas banks with a UK branch; building societies; credit unions | 147; 120; 42; 344 |
Divide UpLead's US figure by the FDIC count and you get about 258 contacts for every insured institution. That is our calculation, not the vendor's. UpLead's file spans credit unions too and runs "from tellers to top-tier banking executives". A teller is a banking contact who rarely signs a vendor contract.
The institution side has gaps of its own. BankFind counts FDIC-insured institutions, so credit unions sit in the NCUA's register instead. The UK keeps four separate PRA lists. A vendor's "banking" total may span all of them, or reach beyond them.
Finance and banking email lists: what the totals include
A finance and banking email list is wider than a banking one, and the width hides in the segment tables. InfoGlobalData's own tables put 285,347 of its contacts under Accountant and 51,247 under CPAs. Its Commercial Banks and Credit Union Banks rows hold 33,765 and 38,132.
A finance industry email list that counts accountants says little about how many bank CFOs it holds. Our accountants email list guide covers that profession on its own.
BookYourData separates the two with SIC codes, 6022 for banks and 6211 for brokers. ReachStream shows no split between banking and finance at all. Ask any vendor which codes sit behind its count before you ask for a price.
Spona's banking email list counts for US and UK institutions
Spona counts institutions first, then the executives at them. It counts each institution once, at its headquarters, and leaves branches out. US banks are NAICS 522110 and 522180. Credit unions are NAICS 522130, and the UK rows use NACE K64.19.
These are Spona inventory counts, not regulator totals. The full inventory holds 10,218 institutions and 32,135 unique verified executive contacts across four countries. The rows for Germany and France sit in the localized versions of this guide.
| Country | Institution type | Institutions | Verified executive contacts |
| US | Bank | 3,420 | 12,100 |
| US | Credit union | 4,380 | 11,800 |
| US | Savings | 520 | 1,600 |
| UK | Bank | 150 | 590 |
| UK | Credit union | 230 | 490 |
| UK | Savings / building society | 42 | 172 |
Read the table beside the registers with care. Spona's 4,380 US credit unions sit under NAICS 522130. The NCUA's 4,214 are federally insured credit unions. An industry code and a federal insurance status are different definitions, so neither figure is a share of the other.
A verified executive contact is a named person in one of the five roles whose work email passed Spona's verification. The chart shows our calculation of how many each type yields per institution.

Bank executives email list: CFO, CIO, CISO, risk and compliance
Five roles often sign or block purchases at a bank: finance, technology, security, risk and compliance. Spona counts each one separately. Two caveats come with the columns: a person with two titles counts in both, so the columns never add up to the contact total. And CRO here means Chief Risk Officer, not Chief Revenue Officer.
| Country | Institution type | CFO | CIO | CISO | Chief Risk Officer | Head of compliance |
| US | Bank | 2,900 | 2,250 | 2,010 | 2,480 | 3,050 |
| US | Credit union | 3,200 | 2,200 | 1,600 | 2,100 | 3,400 |
| US | Savings | 410 | 290 | 245 | 310 | 455 |
| UK | Bank | 128 | 119 | 112 | 121 | 134 |
| UK | Credit union | 185 | 72 | 38 | 87 | 171 |
| UK | Savings / building society | 40 | 31 | 27 | 35 | 41 |
CISO is the thinnest column in every row. Head of compliance is the largest in five of the six rows; at UK credit unions the CFO column leads with 185. If you sell security tooling, the CISO column is your ceiling, and at a smaller institution the CIO or the CFO may own that decision.
For a bank executives email list, pick the role before the institution type. A compliance pitch has 3,400 named targets at US credit unions. A security pitch at the same institutions has 1,600. Our role-based email lists guide covers the CFO and CIO roles across every industry.
Credit unions: more institutions, thinner security coverage
US credit unions outnumber US banks in Spona's inventory, 4,380 against 3,420. They hold fewer verified executive contacts, 11,800 against 12,100.
The NCUA's size data may explain part of that shape: 2,438 federally insured credit unions hold assets under $100 million. Half are smaller than $67.7 million. At that size one executive may carry several titles, and such a person sits in two role columns.
The security column is thinnest of all here. US credit unions carry 1,600 named CISOs and UK credit unions 38. A security vendor working credit unions should plan on reaching the CIO or the CFO at many of them.
For a campaign aimed only at credit unions, start from the NCUA register below and enrich the names.
Bank email list verification: what 4,000 checks showed
Spona split the verification funnel behind its email list cleaning benchmark by vertical. The banking row covers 4,000 unique addresses inside a 40,000-address sample, gathered over about three months.
| Stage | Banking | All verticals |
| Addresses checked | 4,000 | 40,000 |
| Passed | 3,260 (81.50%) | 31,100 (77.75%) |
| Catch-all | 470 | 5,700 |
| Other rejected | 270 | 3,200 |
| Sent | 2,000 | 20,000 |
| Hard bounces | 24 (1.200%) | 305 (1.525%) |
The definitions come from the benchmark. "Pass and catch-all are counted against all unique candidate addresses checked." "Other rejected covers invalid, unknown, disposable and suppressed addresses." "Hard bounce is permanent delivery failures divided by attempted sends to the verified subset, excluding catch-all addresses."
Banking posted the highest pass rate and the lowest hard-bounce rate of the six vertical rows. The data does not say why, and this guide does not guess. Twenty-four bounces on 2,000 sends is a small sample, so read the third decimal loosely. Spona's operating target is "hard bounces below 2% on a freshly checked list", and the banking row sat under it.
The same 40,000 checks exist split by role family. The two splits are one sample seen twice, so a role row never adds to the banking row.
Vendor pages publish a guarantee instead of a funnel.
| Vendor | Quality claim on its page |
| UpLead | "100%" above "Verified Data" in a stats panel; "accuracy rate of up to 95%" in the text |
| BookYourData | "97% deliverability guarantee" |
| InfoGlobalData | "Data Replacement Guarantee for Hard Bounces" |
| DataCaptive | "maintained against an 85% deliverability benchmark" |
| ReachStream | "95% data accuracy and 90% email deliverability" |
Two of the five name a remedy. BookYourData promises free data credits until 97% is met. InfoGlobalData promises to replace hard bounces and names no threshold.
A guarantee describes what happens after the bounce. A funnel shows the pass rate before you buy, so ask each vendor for three numbers: addresses checked, addresses passed and sends that bounced.
Check a banking industry mailing list against official registers
A banking industry mailing list, bought or built, starts with institution names. Four public registers hold them for free, and each gives you a key to match a vendor file against.
FDIC BankFind. BankFind searches every active FDIC-insured institution, and 4,217 are active. Each record names the institution and its charter class.
NCUA. The NCUA's credit union search covers federally insured credit unions. The agency counts 4,214 of them.
PRA lists. The PRA publishes separate lists of the banks, building societies and credit unions it regulates, each entry with a firm reference number. Its own note says the lists are "updated monthly". The PRA adds that a list "does not supersede the Financial Service Register", which it calls the most accurate source.
FCA Register. The Financial Services Register is "a public record of firms, individuals and other bodies that are, or have been, authorised by us or the PRA". You can search it by firm name or reference number.
None of the four carries an executive email. They give you the roster and a key for deduplication. Match the names and headquarters in a vendor file against the register, drop what does not match, then enrich.
Spona's enrichment of your own list is live: a verified email costs 5 credits and a mobile number 35. Our guide to building a lead list covers the dedupe and import steps.
Consolidation: re-check institutions before each campaign
Institutions merge, so a list also ages at the institution level. The NCUA counted 4,214 federally insured credit unions, down from 4,370 a year earlier. That is 156 fewer in twelve months. The NCUA calls the decline "consistent with long-running industry consolidation trends".
Every merged credit union leaves behind a domain that may stop accepting mail or may forward to the acquirer. The PRA refreshes its lists monthly, so a UK roster pulled a quarter ago can already be stale.
Re-pull the register before each campaign, remove institutions that no longer appear, then re-verify the addresses that remain. Our data decay guide explains how fast B2B contact data ages.

Is it legal to email a banking industry email list?
Yes in the US, if every message follows CAN-SPAM. In the UK, yes for corporate subscribers, if you meet the duties below. The purchase buys the names, not the right to send. The rules sit on the message and on the recipient, and a banking industry email list changes neither.
In the US, the FTC says the CAN-SPAM Act "makes no exception for business-to-business email". Each message needs honest headers and subject lines, an ad notice, a valid postal address and a working opt-out. You must honor an opt-out within 10 business days and monitor anyone who sends for you. Each separate email in violation carries a penalty of up to $53,088.
The FTC adds that "you can't contract away your legal responsibility to comply with the law". A compliance badge on a vendor page changes nothing about your own duty.
In the UK, the ICO states that "the PECR rule on direct marketing by electronic mail does not apply to corporate subscribers". Two duties still hold. You must "not disguise or conceal your identity". You must also "give a valid address for business to opt-out or unsubscribe from your messages".
The ICO treats sole traders and some partnerships as "individual subscribers", who need consent or the soft opt-in. The line runs along the recipient's legal form, so check the legal form of each institution before you send.
A named contact's details are personal data "even if they are acting in their business capacity". Where PECR needs no consent, the ICO says legitimate interests is likely the appropriate basis in many cases. People hold an "absolute right to stop their data being used for direct marketing purposes".
For a bought list, the ICO says "your use of any personal data on the list must comply with the UK GDPR". It adds: "You must also tell people that you have obtained their data".
Vendor pages read differently. InfoGlobalData says its "Banking firms list comply with GDPR, CCPA and CAN-SPAM Act". UpLead writes that "Every record is sourced and verified in line with CAN-SPAM requirements". BookYourData puts compliance on the sender, and so do the FTC and the ICO.
For contacts in the EU, Spona's general line on bought lists reads: "Buying a B2B list does not grant permission to email it; establish a lawful basis for personal data processing, meet transparency and objection duties, and follow the recipient country's electronic marketing rules, including prior consent where required." Our guide on whether to buy an email list covers the rules country by country.
What a banking email database costs per verified contact
Three vendors publish prices, two sell by quote, one runs a platform with a free tier, and Spona charges per lead. The per-contact figures are our calculations from the published prices.
| Route | Offer | What you get | Price | Per contact |
| Pre-built file | UpLead, US nationwide | 1,087,982 US banking contacts | $24,999 one-time | about $0.023 |
| Pre-built file | UpLead Starter | 905 US contacts | $399 one-time | about $0.44 |
| Pre-built file | UpLead state and country files | CSV within 24 to 48 hours | $249 (Wyoming) to $11,999 (New York); UK $4,999 | varies |
| Pre-built file | BookYourData, US | 1,000,000 finance and banking records | $4,999 one-time | about $0.005 |
| Pre-built file | BookYourData, UK | 331,883 records | $1,699 one-time | about $0.005 |
| Custom list | BookYourData | 250 leads, or a 1,000-record starter build | "Starting at $99"; "From $499" | about $0.40; about $0.50 |
| Postal with email | ExactData | bank executives: postal address, phone, email "if available" | $0.30 under "Cost/Lead" | $0.30 |
| Quote only | InfoGlobalData, DataCaptive | banking contacts, sample on request | no public price | |
| Platform | ReachStream | free plan with "100 export credits and 200 email views" | no paid prices shown | |
| Per lead | Spona Bulk Search | basic filters, large volumes | 1 to 9 credits | $0.008 to $0.09 |
| Per lead | Spona Standard Search, email only | company and person filters | 3 to 7 credits | $0.024 to $0.07 |
| Per lead | Spona Standard Search, email and mobile | adds a mobile number | 35 to 55 credits | $0.28 to $0.55 |
| Per lead | Spona Deep Search | scored, verified and enriched in real time | 60 to 200 credits | $0.48 to $2.00 |
The two cheapest routes sell rows. BookYourData's million-record US file works out at about half a cent a record. The record is a row in a finance and banking pool, brokers included.
UpLead's nationwide file costs about 2.3 cents a contact and spans tellers to executives. A banking email database priced this way asks you to find the five executives inside it yourself.
The expensive end sells selection. UpLead's Starter file costs about 44 cents a contact for 905 of them. BookYourData's custom list starts at $99 for 250 leads. ExactData prices a bank executives list at $0.30 under "Cost/Lead", with a postal address and phone, and an email "if available".
Spona sits between the two. Credits cost $0.008 to $0.01 each, depending on the plan. Every new search session costs a one-time 1,000 credits for the AI analysis and market mapping. After that, an email-only Standard Search lead costs 3 to 7 credits.
Take 1,000 bank executive leads, email only. The leads cost 3,000 to 7,000 credits. Add the one-time session, and the total is 4,000 to 8,000 credits. At plan rates, $32 to $80, and the exact price per lead shows at checkout before you buy.
When Spona fits a banking email list, and when it does not
Spona builds the list per search instead of selling a file. You describe the buyer in a chat, for example "credit unions in Ohio, CFO and head of compliance". The AI mines 40+ sources, verifies every lead and returns a scored list in about 4 minutes. You pay per lead, and every search starts with a free sample.
Where it fits:
- Institutions and five roles, counted apart. 3,420 US banks and 4,380 US credit unions, each with CFO, CIO, CISO, Chief Risk Officer and head of compliance columns.
- A measured funnel. Of 4,000 banking addresses checked, 81.50% passed. Hard bounces on verified sends ran at 1.200%.
- Per-lead pricing. A thousand email-only leads cost $32 to $80 with the session. The same leads with a mobile number cost 35 to 55 credits each.
- Enrichment of your own list. Upload a vendor file matched to a register and pay only for what Spona adds.
- New matching leads every week at the same price per lead, plus a blacklist to exclude current customers.
- Signal filters on Pro and above: funding, hiring, technology, first-seen and new-location, combined with the profile. HubSpot is the only native CRM integration, CSV export works on every paid plan, and the API runs on Expert.
Where it falls short:
- An inventory, not a register. Spona counts institutions under industry codes, and the regulators count insured or authorised firms. Start a complete roster from BankFind, the NCUA or the PRA lists, not from a search.
- CISO coverage is thin. 1,600 named CISOs at US credit unions, and 38 at UK credit unions.
- Four countries counted. US, UK, Germany and France. No count for Canada, Australia or any other market.
- Catch-all domains can leave gaps. 470 of the 4,000 banking addresses sat on catch-all domains, and the verified set excludes them. An institution behind one may return no lead.
- Pre-built files cost less per row. BookYourData's US file works out at about half a cent a record, and a Standard Search lead starts at $0.024. InfoGlobalData and ExactData also sell postal addresses they call CASS-certified. Spona lists no postal product.
- Signal Search as its own search type is announced, not live.
The free plan carries 3,000 one-time credits. After the session cost, that buys a few hundred email-only leads, and the pricing page shows the credit value by plan.

Banking email list FAQ
Is there a free list of banks and credit unions?
Yes, the regulators publish them, and none carries an executive email. BankFind lists every active FDIC-insured institution. The NCUA's search covers federally insured credit unions, and the PRA posts monthly lists of UK banks, building societies and credit unions. Spona's free plan adds 3,000 one-time credits, and every search starts with a free sample of leads.
How many banks and credit unions are in the US?
BankFind shows 4,217 active FDIC-insured institutions. The NCUA counts 4,214 federally insured credit unions, down from 4,370 a year earlier. Those credit unions serve 146.1 million members. Of the credit unions, 2,438 hold assets under $100 million.
Is there an official list of UK banks?
Yes, the PRA publishes one. It lists 147 banks incorporated in the UK and authorised to accept deposits, plus 120 overseas banks with a UK branch. Separate lists cover 42 building societies and 344 credit unions, and each entry carries a firm reference number. The PRA notes that the lists do not supersede the Financial Services Register, which it calls the most accurate source.
Is it legal to buy a banking email list?
Yes in the US and the UK, and the purchase gives you the names, not the right to send. CAN-SPAM covers every commercial email, and each email in violation can cost up to $53,088. PECR exempts corporate subscribers from its email rule and treats sole traders as individuals. Our guide to building a B2B email list covers the EU rules as well.
Banking mailing list or banking email list?
A banking mailing list, in some vendors' usage, is a postal file: the institution, a street address and often a phone. ExactData sells its bank executives list that way, with an email "if available". A banking email list adds a named executive and a verified work address. If your campaign is email, ask how many records carry a verified address for a named person, not how many rows the file holds.
How often should I re-verify a banking email list?
Before every send, and at two levels. Re-pull the register first: the NCUA counted 156 fewer federally insured credit unions in a year, and the PRA refreshes its lists monthly. Then re-verify the addresses, since even a fresh list loses some: in Spona's banking row, 81.50% passed and 1.200% of sends bounced. New leads that match a finished search appear every week at the same price.
